East Gwillimbury

Just north of Newmarket is the Town of East Gwillimbury. This rural and historic-commercial area has plenty to offer. Be sure to visit the national historic site of Sharon Temple for an interpretive tour. Many farms welcome visitors especially during strawberry season (early June to early July), and for cut-your-own Christmas trees. A major snowmobile trail starts here near Mount Albert. Holland Landing provides a glimpse of history with its old abandoned canal lock. Just north of Holland Landing, a number of excellent marinas are found along the shores of the Holland River, leading into Lake Simcoe. Superb golfing abounds in this country-side of rolling hills.
